Recovering? Keep it gentle the first week — short walks only. Ideas below range from steps-from-your-hotel to a companion's day out.
Food & drink
- The original Caesar salad — invented in Tijuana (Caesar's on Av. Revolución).
- Zona Río dining — excellent modern restaurants within walking distance of the hospitals.
- Baja Med cuisine — Tijuana is a real foodie city; street tacos and craft beer too.
Culture & sightseeing
- CECUT (Cultural Center) — the iconic "La Bola" dome in Zona Río; museum + IMAX.
- Avenida Revolución — historic tourist strip, shops, the Tijuana Arch.
- Playas de Tijuana — the beach and border-wall murals at the Pacific.
Day trips (companions / later recovery)
- Rosarito Beach (~40 min)
- Valle de Guadalupe wine country (~1.5 hrs)
- Puerto Nuevo lobster village
Getting around & staying safe
- Use clinic drivers or Uber/DiDi rather than street hails.
- Stick to Zona Río, Revolución, and tourist areas; keep valuables low-key.
- Carry your passport, hotel address, and clinic contact; keep a companion.
